I’m not making the lemonade!

‘When life gives you lemons, make lemonade’

Most of us have read or heard this somewhere. We respond differently to this proverbial phrase.

Amazing phrase, very powerful. I get it. It has meant something to me over the years but sometimes I just don’t want to make the lemonade. I’m hoping someone can relate to this.

Have you ever felt like, no!

I don’t want lemons.

I don’t want to make lemonade.

Let’s consider that you can jazz it up as you see fit.  Yes? No?

Sometimes we just don’t want the lemons or the lemonade. Nobody wants life to give them lemons. Nobody wants to experience bittersweet moments in life.

It’s a struggle to accept the lemons. Why should we act like we have the energy to fix problems we did not expect? Why should we act enthusiastic about making lemonade? What is it with this expectation that we should be resilient, have everything together all the time?

‘When life gives you lemons, make lemonade’

I don’t think there is a better alternative, we just must make the lemonade. If we consider things like Murphy’s law.

Maybe we need a lot of lemonade. We need to be resilient and keep moving forward. When life gives you lemons, think of every creative way you can make it. You don’t have to want to or be enthusiastic about it.

Good luck!

  2. I completely agree! I actually dislike this phrase and have always thought, “I didn’t even ask for lemons or lemonade” lol I get the sentiment, but I’d like to see a twist. There’s always something else you can do to be positive, without making lemonade.

  3. Haha cool, life give you lemons, politely decline, hehe. Not awlays easy but well put, sometimes you just do not want it nor have the energy to make the lemonade, thanks for your alternative idea. I like those perspectives

  4. That last line really resonates south me. We don’t have to want to, or be enthusiastic about it, but we won’t be making lemonade every day. Sometimes the best thing we can do on those sour days is wait it out, have that glass of lemonade, and take a deep breath. Tomorrow will come, and maybe bring some other type of fruit with it. 😉
