I would like a gold fish. I think if I get one I will have a lot fun living. I have never owned a pet. I still have a life long commitment to a doll, that mysteriously disappeared(π everyone who was at least 1 year older than me back then is still a suspect, to this day!!!). I am still investigating the issue. One day someone will slip and say something. I am turning 27 this year but I will never stop investigating. π§π§
I am expecting this gold fish to live long, the pressure is on for the gold fish. The pressure is on, I will do some research before I get one. Now, if this fish dies sooner than the average gold fishπ, that will suck. It will probably mean that I had something to do with my doll disappearing. I will be kind to myself either way. I am always the main suspect in my life anyway π.
I live in a country with random power outages and water is rationed where I live (water on, water off). I will start saving for this gold fish. The reading has begun!. I have wanted a gold fish since last year and I will make it happen slowly.
If anyone has any tips please let me know π.
Thank you for reading.

Goldfish will grow continuously as long as the tank size is large enough.
No little bowls without an air pump.
Start with the largest tank size you can, 5 gallons or bigger and an air pump.
Goldfish are terribly filthy, they make a lot of waste in the water so a good filtration system is important to keeping a healthy long lived fish.
I had one that lived 5 years and got gigantic in a 20 gallon tank.
They are related to koi.
Big enough tank, air pump, and filter.
Allow the tank water to filter for 48hours before getting a fish, and you can take some tank water to a pet store and they will test it to make sure it’s suitable for fish.
Your tank will need gravel and decorations. You will need a way to clean the gravel and do water changes.
There is a gravel cleaner that looks like a hose with a scoop on the end (they are called pythons, but I’m sure there are other brands), that you connect to your sink faucet.
When you turn the water on, the python will suck up the gravel and sift it and dump it back out.
To keep the tank clean, this needs to be done or your nitrogen levels will build up and kill the fish.
Have fun with your fish!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. I have made my list from this comment and will discuss it at the pet store. This is great π, I’ll create an environment the fish can survive in first, then get it, instead of getting everything at once. Lighting is a fancy choice? or is it necessary?.

Lighting isn’t really necessary…. I mean… The fish isn’t going to die if it doesn’t have a light above the tank. If it’s near a window it will get natural light.
It will actually stay a paler color without light, and lighting makes a tank look nicer. Plus, if you buy a starter package tank kit you’re going to get a light anyway.

Try not to overfeed it (or indeed wash it as did to mine when I was 5 years old!!)

Yes I thought they (we had 2) must need a wash as I had to!! π

Lots of care should be taken in the aquarium, proper oxygen levels with correct feed. We cannot leave them and go anywhere, otherwise….

So I can’t travel for a week and leave it alone?

Yeah ππ» If you make friends with them. They can recognise, who is their friend and outside. So clever is the Gold π . When you go near the aquarium, it will come near you. Nice Friends
